The first question has already been answered in court, of course. Others worth serious consideration are: did they get a fair trial? And: who was gaming who? ![]() ![]() It’s an interesting question, but it’s not the only one. Could this endlessly vacillating British Army officer (played by Matthew Macfadyen) possibly have found his way through the multiple-choice obstacle course set by presenter Chris Tarrant (Michael Sheen) without someone helping him? Many of us have been grappling with that question for the past three nights, as James Graham’s ITV drama Quiz has recreated the famous “coughing major” scandal, right down to that multicoloured polo shirt worn by Ingram in the studio hot seat. Did Major Charles Ingram, with a little help from his wife Diana and her new acquaintance Tecwen Whittock, cheat his way to the million-pound jackpot on ITV’s blockbuster game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? back in 2001?
